BYLAW 10/2001
BEING A BYLAW FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AN ASSESSMENT REVIEW BOARD
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 454 of the Municipal Government Act, being Chapter M-26.1 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 1994, Council must pass a Bylaw establishing an Assessment Review Board;NOW THEREFORE, the Council for the Town of Bowden in the Province of Alberta, duly assembled, enact as follows:
- PURPOSE
The purpose of this Bylaw is to establish an Assessment Review Board for the Town of Bowden
- ASSESSMENT REVIEW BOARD
2.1 Council hereby establishes an Assessment Review Board consisting of a minimum of three (3) members and maximum of five (5) members which can consist of Council or members at large.2.2 By resolution, the Council shall:
(a) appoint the Assessment Review Board at the annual organizational meeting.2.3 The term of office shall be for the period until subsequent appointments are made at the next annual organizational meeting of Council.
(b) fill any vacancies.
(c) establish the remuneration and expenses for members of the Assessment Review Board.2.4 The Assessment Review Board appointed by Council must make all decisions:
(a) on complaints relating to property tax, within 150 days after the assessment notices are sent out by the Town, and2.5 The Municipal District Manager shall act as the clerk of the Assessment Review Board.
(b) on complaints relating to any tax other than property tax within 150 days after the tax notices are sent out by the Town.- This Bylaw comes into full force and effect upon receiving third reading.
