9-1-1 is the official national emergency number in Canada. Dialing 911 quickly connects you to a dispatcher trained to route your call to local emergency medical, fire, and law enforcement agencies. 9-1-1 lines are reserved for emergency calls to report a crime in progress, or a fire, or to request an Ambulance. Using 9-1-1 for non-emergency calls may delay the arrival of help for people caught in real emergencies. For any emergency in Bowden, dial 9-1-1.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
In the event of a disaster, the responsibility for Bowden residents' safety, health and well-being falls to the municipality.
Municipal Emergency Plans are created on the assumption that the resident should be able to take care of themselves for the first 72 hours, so please take measures to ensure that you are prepared to do so. There are several resources provided by the federal and provincial governments to assist you in this endeavour. Residents should be aware that the Town of Bowden is taking its responsibility for disaster planning very seriously. Disaster Services representatives have completed the Town's Emergency Plan, a vital document to refer to in the case of a disaster. Representatives have and will continue to educate themselves in this discipline with Basic Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Operations Centre training.
DID YOU KNOW? The Town of Bowden is one of the last few remaining Towns to still have a siren. If a resident hears a siren blowing, they should immediately move indoors and tune into a radio station such as CKLJ Olds 96.5 FM to find out what the problem is.
